Our Strategic Focus

In 2019, the NSIC carried out over 400 community surveys and held nine focus groups to gain insight into the community's requirements. From this effort, three primary areas of emphasis emerged for the center's programs and services for the subsequent five years. In response to the challenges posed by COVID-19, NSIC prioritized the expansion of its virtual programming. Our current focus revolves around expanding children's programs, further nurturing relationships with civic leaders, establishing robust partnerships with other non-profit organizations, and fostering unity within our diverse community.

Our Building: A cultural landmark

As one of the most diverse Islamic Centers in the United States, catering to a congregation of over 500 during its Friday services, it is only fitting that the North Shore Islamic Center proudly stands in one of New York's most historically significant neighborhoods. The rich cultural heritage serves as a constant reminder that the NSIC is not merely New York's largest mosque; it is a beacon of shared aspirations, symbolizing New York's vibrant multicultural tapestry.

Our Building: The cornerstone of the New York Muslim community

The 70,000 square foot facility is not merely a mosque; it is a dynamic cultural hub meticulously designed to cater to the entire community. Within the NSIC, you'll find a school, a cozy café, a social service organization, a gift shop, a dedicated body-washing chamber for funeral rites, and a versatile multipurpose space that hosts a wide array of functions and events. These events encompass a spectrum of activities, including but not limited to interfaith gatherings, nonprofit initiatives, cultural exhibitions, and educational programs. In our ongoing vision, we aim to incorporate a library, an exhibition area, and the construction of an Imam Seminary. The collaborative effort of the New York area community played a significant role in bringing this facility to fruition, and our leadership reflects the full diversity and strength of our community.
